[WTF] Steamed woman fries hubby’s goldfish

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Oct.05, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

PASADENA, Texas (UPI) – Police in Texas say a woman took her common-law husband’s goldfish and ate them to get back at him for taking back jewelry he had given her.

Pasadena Police Department spokesman Vance Mitchell said the couple argued about the jewelry and the woman went to the man’s home after he refused to return the items to her — and took seven goldfish, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Mitchell said the man called police and officers went to the woman’s home to attempt to return the fish.

“She said, ‘They’re in there,’ and pointed to the kitchen,” Mitchell said.

He said police found four of the fish fried on a plate and the woman told them she had already eaten the other three. Officers determined the fish were community property because they had been purchased while the couple lived together.

“There was nothing we could do,” Mitchell said. “If he wants to pursue it, it’s a civil case.”

[WTF] Firefighters rescue penis from metal ring

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Oct.01, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (UPI) – Firefighters in California said they were called to a hospital for an unusual rescue — removing a metal ring from a man’s penis.

The Costa Mesa Fire Department said its Urban Search and Rescue squad was called Tuesday to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach to saw through a steel, ring-shaped dumbbell weight fastener that had been stuck on a man’s penis for two or three days, the Newport Beach Daily Pilot reported.

Costa Mesa Battalion Chief Scott Broussard said the firefighters told him about the man the following morning.

“They said his comment was, ‘This will make me the chief of my tribe,’” Broussard said.

The firefighters said the man told them he was attempting to increase the size of his penis and initially refused to have the ring removed, despite the fact it had blackened and swelled severely from the lack of blood flow.

“He was kind of a wingnut,” Broussard said.

The man agreed to have the ring removed after doctors told him the flesh of his penis was close to dying off. Firefighters in full surgical gear spent two hours sawing through the ring. They said the operation was successful and the man was not injured.

[WTF] Robbery suspect asks victim for date

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Sep.14, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

COLUMBUS, Ohio (UPI) – A man suspected of a Columbus, Ohio, robbery returned to the crime scene to ask the victim for a date, police said.

Stephfon Bennett, 20, was allegedly one of three men who robbed Daniel Martinez Batista and Diana Martinez in a North Side apartment parking lot at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The robbers, who took Batista’s wallet and Martinez’s purse, fled when neighbors threatened them, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Less than two hours later, police said, Bennett returned to Martinez’s home to ask her for a date.

“We are not exactly sure what he was thinking at the time,” Columbus police Sgt. Shaun Laird told WBNS-TV, Columbus. “She recognized him right away when he returned and was able to have her cousin call 911.”

Within minutes, police arrived and arrested Bennett, who was being held on $100,000 bond in the Franklin County jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.

Police were looking for the two other suspects.

[WTF] Jeep crashes through home’s second floor

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Sep.12, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (UPI) – Police in Suffolk County, N.Y., say an alleged drunken driver crashed a Jeep into the second story of a house and the Jeep ended up on the first floor.

Suffolk police Sgt. Robert Lehmann said Adam Clark, 20, of East Moriches, N.Y., was allegedly intoxicated when he went off the road, hit a pile of dirt and went airborne toward early Saturday morning, Newsday reported.

The vehicle crashed into the home’s second floor and then broke through into the first floor of the house.

Police said Clark and his passenger, Richard Mailand, 20, received minor injuries in the crash, while no one inside the home was hurt.

Clark allegedly failed multiple sobriety tests after the accident and police obtained a blood sample to determine his blood alcohol level, which was not reported.

Homeowner, John Sarli, 58 — who was asleep in a first floor den at the time of the crash — told Newsday several family heirlooms and antiques were destroyed.

“I heard a bad crash and smelled dirt,” he said. “And lo and behold there’s a Jeep crashed into the second floor of my house.”

[WTF] Boy, 9, leads police on high speed chase

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Sep.05, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

GREENFIELD, Ind. (UPI) – Police in Indiana said a 9-year-old boy who was upset about the 8 p.m. curfew imposed by his parents led officers on a 30-minute car chase.

Derek Towle, deputy chief of the Greenfield Police Department, said cars from five departments responded to reports of a possibly drunk driver swerving on U.S. 40 at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, The Indianapolis Star reported.

Towle said the 2005 silver Chevrolet Aveo drove across the median and traveled the wrong way on the road at speeds of up to 80 mph during the chase, which ended about two miles west of Knightstown, Ind., when police used a spiked strip to flatten the vehicle’s tires.

“Once they got the vehicle stopped, the officers were kind of surprised to see who it was,” Towle said.

He said the driver was a 9-year-old Greenfield boy who told police he had taken his parents’ car because he was angry about having to come inside and go to bed at 8 p.m.

The boy, whose name was not released, was arrested on preliminary charges of fleeing law enforcement. Towle said police were planning to seek counseling for the boy.

[WTF] Police: Woman’s date stole her car

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Sep.05, 2009, under WTF!!!, Weird News

FERNDALE, Mich. (UPI) – Police in Michigan said they arrested a man who allegedly stuck a woman with the restaurant bill and stole her car on their first, and presumably last, date.

Ferndale police Detective Sgt. Patrick Jones said Terrance Dejuan McCoy, 23, of Detroit, asked for his 27-year-old date’s keys so he could retrieve his wallet from her car after they finished a meal at Buffalo Wild Wings in Ferndale, the Oakland (County) Daily Tribune, Mich., reported.

“She gave him her keys and he went out the door,” Jones said of the April 24 incident. “From where she was sitting she saw him get in her car and he drove off at a high rate of speed.”

The car was found in Detroit May 5 with the radio missing. McCoy was arrested and Ferndale officers brought him back to the city July 25.

He was charged with a felony count of unlawfully driving the woman’s car away, which could earn him a 5-year jail sentence.

McCoy was being held in lieu of $25,000 bond.

[Weird News] Family recovers watch lost 128 years ago

by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Aug.22, 2009, under Weird News

PWLLHELI, Wales (UPI) – A Welsh diver said he discovered a pocket watch that sank with a ship 128 years ago and tracked down the family of its original owner.

Rich Hughes said he was diving near a wreck off the Welsh coast when he discovered a silver pocket watch engraved with the words “Richard Prichard 1866 Abersoch North Wales” on its casing, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

Hughes said Prichard was the captain of Barbara, a square-rigged barque, and died before the ship sank during a storm off the coast of Pembrokeshire in 1881.

“I felt that although I’d found it the watch wasn’t mine and I wanted to return it to its rightful owner,” Hughes said.

Amateur historian David Roberts was called by Hughes to assist in finding Prichard’s family and Roberts said he discovered a gravestone belonging to the captain’s father, the newspaper reported.

“Through his family tree I was able to trace Captain Prichard’s descendants and was amazed to find they are still living in North Wales,” Roberts said.

Hughes and Roberts said retired dentist Owen Cowell, of Pwllheli, North Wales, Prichard’s closest living relative, will receive the watch later this month.
