[HipHop News] Mothers Of T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo Launch TV Show

The mothers of rappers T-Pain, Lil Wayne and R&B singer Ne-Yo have teamed to create a new talk show, Dinner Table Discussions.
Aliyah “Mama Pain” Najm (T-Pain‘s mother), Jacida Carter (Lil Wayne’s
mother) and H. Loraine Smith (Ne-Yo’s mother) will serve as hosts of Dinner Table Discussions,
which aims to present a quality and informative program. According to
the women, their aim is to create a show that will enhance their
viewers “educationally, economically, socially and culturally,” by
discussing current events, important topics, interviews and feature
segments. “Our vision is to be a premier talk show that delivers a
creative and informative format that assists viewers in educating and
solving challenging issues,” Najm told AllHipHop.com in a statement.
“There are situations in our communities, cities, states and even
nationwide that people have made us aware of and they want to resolve
the issues, but they just don’t know where to get help or how to
properly handle certain issues,” Najm said. Dinner Table Discussions is scheduled to launch in 2010.

AllHipHop.com Launches Internet Radio Station

AllHipHop.com has announced the launch of a new 24 hour Internet radio station, AllHipHop Radio: Explicit Content. The new digital radio station, which launched in partnership with Goom Radio today (July 23), will provide AllHipHop.com’s millions of viewers a true HD radio experience over the Internet, with live on-air personalities, in-studio interviews and performances, unedited, uncensored music, interviews, unique radio shows and much more. AllHipHop’s Explicit Content, which is currently in beta mode on AllHipHop.com, will also allow users to create and customize their own radio stations and control the rotation of songs.

Vibe Magazine Shuts Down

VIBE magazine has shut down. The magazine was launched in 1993 by music industry legend Quincy Jones and it served as as widely revered urban magazine. “On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today,” said Danyel Smith, former Chief Content Officer of Vibe Media Group and Editor in Chief of Vibe. “We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news,” Smith said in a statement released to AllHipHop.com. “It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of VIBE Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the VIBE brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you.” In the 90’s, VIBE experienced meteoric success as a business and an outlet for urban journalism. It has ailed under the ownership of private equity firm Wicks Group of Companies, AOL reported.

Raekwon Talks Nas, ‘Verbal Intercourse 2’

As excitement builds over the verified August release of Only Built for Cuban Linx II, Raekwon is giving more details on the anticipated LP’s confirmed tracks. While the teaser sequel track “Criminology 2” was well-received, fans have continually questioned whether there would be a re-up of the original album’s most lyrical track, “Verbal Intercourse.” Nas, whose beginning verse is celebrated as one of the best of his illustrious career, has been in talks with Raekwon to bring back his renowned lyricism before the final tracklist is completed. “Nas said he’s gonna be on the album,” the Chef stated. “We’re still working on catching him. But if it’s not ‘Verbal Intercourse 2,’ we’ll come up with some new chemistry.”

Wu Music Group Signs Global Digital Distribution Deal

De-facto Wu Tang Clan leader the RZA has announced today (September 10) a partnership with global digital music group The Orchard, which will market Wu’s extensive catalogue worldwide in digital and physical formats. The deal encompasses new material and 13 previous Clan releases that have been unavailable digitally from the Wu Tang Clan, Killarmy, Wu-Syndicate, Shyheim, U-God, Black Knights, and West Coast Killa Beez. With operations in 27 countries, The Orchard is one of the world’s largest music distribution organizations. “The time is right to bring some older material to the masses digitally,” RZA told AllHipHop.com. “Our fans have been dedicated and patient, and they’re hungry to hear the music that has set us apart from so many others. Immortal Technique Embarks on European Tour

American underground rap fixture Immortal Technique is taking his revolutionary style of Hip-Hop overseas as he gears up for an upcoming European tour. The outing, which kicks off Sunday (Sept. 14) in Amsterdam , is in support of Immortal Technique’s latest album The 3rd World. In addition to showcasing his music, the rapper will utilize the tour to highlight local support in an effort to build strength in the Hip-Hop communities across Europe. “Hip-Hop is not dead, it just lives under occupation,” said Immortal Technique, who will be joined on the tour by Viper Record label mates Diabolic and DJ GI Joe. “But there is a guerrilla force out there fighting and it is not just rappers but the people who make up these communities and support real music, especially independent street music.”
