TesterWant to work for Sony as an official game tester? Here’s your chance, as Sony is throwing together a new reality show series called The Tester, airing exclusively on the PlayStation Network. 51 Minds, which also produced “Rock of Love” and “Flavor of Love,” said that the show will air this winter. In the meantime, gamers are welcome to apply for a spot on the show by filling out an application on the official website.

“This original program will challenge a select group of gamers in a series of tests to determine if they have what it takes to make it as an official Game Tester,” reads show’s description. “The elimination competitions throughout the series will not only test the contestants’ video game knowledge, but they will also challenge the gamers’ memory, stamina, dexterity, and overall mental prowess. Contestants must have the whole package to take home the coveted prize in this new original series.”

The coveted prize, of course, is a contract position at Sony Computer Entertainment’s Quality Assurance department in San Diego, California. Potential contestants need to be at least 21 years of age, legally eligible to work, and a current resident in the U.S. In addition to the online application, gamers will need to submit a short video explaining why he/she would be the perfect contestant for the show.

Many gamers who have served as testers would say that the prize isn’t worth winning: the job isn’t exactly glorious.
