PlayStation 3 is good choice

Q: I’m interested in Blu-ray Disc players. I know the Sony PlayStation 3 can handle Blu-ray movies. How does its technology compare to other Blu-ray players? Since it’s built for video games, is the player inferior?
A: The PlayStation 3 is more advanced than most Blu-ray players. The first Blu-ray players were labeled Profile 1.0. Profile 1.1 added picture-in-picture. Profile 2.0 (Internet connectivity) is the most recent. Few Profile 2.0 players are available. But all PS3s are Profile 2.0. The PS3 has built-in Wi-Fi. And it can receive firmware updates over the Internet. Furthermore, its price is on par with many stand-alone players.
So, you get its game capabilities for free. I think it is a good way to go.
