Suspect tricked into calling 911
by FrEiBeRgS2002 on Apr.22, 2008, under Weird News
Lutz, Florida – A Land ‘O Lakes man was arrested Monday after he allegedly broke into a Lutz café and later called deputies to say his truck had been stolen.
The owner of Rosa’s Café, Agustin DeJesus, was sleeping in the back of the business early Monday morning. The restaurant normally opens at 6 a.m., and DeJesus sometimes sleeps in the back on late nights.
But Monday morning, he woke up around 4:30 a.m. Deputies say Leonard Levy had broken into the restaurant and
began taking cash from the register.
DeJesus says the man took $600 in cash from the register and $25 from a charity jar on the counter.
“[He is a] lowlife, basically,†DeJesus’ son said.
But during the robbery, Levy had left his truck running outside the store.
DeJesus quietly walked out a back door undetected and then jumped into Levy’s truck. He drove off and called 911.
In the meantime, Levy ran to a nearby payphone and also called 911. But it wasn’t to report a burglarized restaurant. It was to say his truck had been stolen.
“Criminals aren’t the smartest people, and this is certainly a case of an individual who didn’t use all his brain power,†said Lt. Doug Tobin.
Based on DeJesus’ call, deputies determined Levy was the burglary suspect. Levy was arrested and transported to jail. Deputies say they also found “a large amount of cash in his pockets.â€
Levy was charged in this burglary, seven others and an
additional attempted burglary. Deputies believe Levy may be responsible for as many as 20 burglaries around the Bay area.
Deputies believe Levy carried out some of the burglaries in early April when his Ford Ranger was painted a green color. Deputies believe the truck was then painted black before Levy allegedly carried out Monday morning’s
burglary.
Bond was set at $7,000.

Worse than cockroaches: Finding an 8-foot gator on your kitchen floor
EAST LAKE – Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, Sandra Frosti heard an intruder bumping around in her kitchen.
Turns out, the noise was made by an 8-foot, 8-inch alligator that had crawled into the 69-year-old’s kitchen in Eastlake Woodlands.
The female alligator apparently pushed through a screened panel on the back porch, shouldered its way past a potted ficus tree, then got inside the house through an open rear sliding glass door. Once inside, it crawled through the living room, down the hall and into the kitchen.
When Frosti looked into the kitchen, she saw the beast’s head. She called 911 and left the house. Click here for audio of the 911 call.
“What’s going on?” asked a dispatcher.
“There’s an alligator in my kitchen!” Frosti said.
“How long do you think the alligator is ma’am?”
“It’s huge!” Frosti said. “… I only saw the first half of it, and that had to be at least 3 feet. … Because it was behind the freezer, and I just disappeared.”
“Are you sure it couldn’t be like, a, uh, iguana or a really large…”
“Oh, no, no, no, no!” Frosti said.
“All right,” the dispatcher told her, “we’ll get deputies out that way.”
Pinellas deputies called a trapper who removed it about 1:30 a.m. During the capture, the gator was slightly injured when a plate was knocked to the ground and cut the reptile. No other injuries were reported.
“The house was a mess,” Frosti said. “It did a good amount of damage in the kitchen.”
This morning, there was still dirt and blood on the kitchen floor, blood spattered on the wall and a claw mark on the hallway wall.
Frosti said she didn’t know when the gator got in or where it might have wandered before she noticed it.
“It might have been in the bedroom for all I know,” she said.
The gator “looked awfully well-fed,” she said, adding that authorities told her they thought it was “wanted to check out the cat.”
This morning, Frosti said she had no hard feelings and even worried that the alligator would be destroyed because of her size. Mostly, she found the whole thing amusing.
“I can’t wait to tell my grand-kids,” she said, “because they probably won’t believe me.”

Remy Ma Sentencing Date Pushed Back
by FuKdAtShHh on Apr.22, 2008, under Hip Hop News
Hip-Hop star Remy Ma must wait another two weeks before she learns her fate, as the rapper’s sentencing date for shooting a friend twice has been pushed back until May. Remy Ma, born Remy Smith, was due to be sentenced to prison on April 23. Sources told AllHipHop.com that Remy Ma, 26, will now be sentenced to prison on May 13. Although she faces up to 25 years in prison after a New York Supreme Court found the rapper guilty of assault, weapons possession and coercion, sources stated that Remy Ma is expected to receive anywhere from three to five years in prison. The guilty verdict and upcoming sentencing of Remy Ma stems from an incident in July 2007, in which Remy Ma accused childhood friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph of stealing $3000 dollars from her purse.
